Private Lessons (One-on-One) Ages 8+

Price: £25 per hour session or £45 per 2-hour session. Oil and Acrylic. Very flexible with days and times.

In these more in-depth sessions, you will learn:

• The properties and grades of oils/acrylics. 

• How to choose and use different brushes

• A brief history of art and painting techniques

• Preparing your own canvas to save money

• Composition and the principles of good design

• Chiaroscuro: mastering light and dark

• How to use palette and painting knives

• Mixing colors and achieving color harmony

• Handling edges and creating depth

• Using texture to add dimension

• …and much more, all tailored to your goals. 

These lessons are ideal if you are:

• An ambitious beginner starting out with painting

• an intermediate painter looking to advance and refine your technique

• A GCSE student or young artist with strong potential, looking to improve their coursework portfolio​

Private Group Classes - Ages 8+

If you prefer to have your own private class comprising of friends and family, I can arrange these. Times are flexible. Group size from 2 to a maximum of 4 people. 

 

10 hour Introductory Group Classes - ages 17+

Absolute beginners are very welcome.​

Price: £150 per person for a ten hour introductory course - organised into weekly 2 hour sessions. Pay £30 per 2 hour session or pay £135 upfront and save 10% 

Max 4 students per class ensures everyone receives individual guidance.

Small classes are available for beginners, though it can be useful to more experienced students. These sessions provide:

• Hands-on guidance in a supportive group environment

• Opportunities to share ideas and get feedback

• Structured lessons​

• The properties and grades of oils & acrylics; gouache & watercolours

• How to choose and use different brushes

• A brief history of art and painting techniques

• Preparing your own canvas to save money

• Composition and the principles of good design

• Chiaroscuro: mastering light and dark

• Mixing colors and achieving color harmony

• Handling edges and creating depth

• Using texture to add dimension

• Painting demonstrations by lovely me

• Drawing skills (important for good painting)

• You will begin with gouache, an excellent starting medium which shares qualities of both watercolour and acrylic painting.

• We will then cover oils; acrylics and watercolours.

• These lessons are ideal if you are:

• A beginner starting out with painting

• A more experienced artist wanting to try new mediums or as a refresher 

• Many students begin lessons with little or no previous experience. The aim is to build confidence and understanding step by step in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Small Open Group Classes - painting classes from £30 or save 10% when paid as a 5 session (10 hour) block.

Ages 17+

Max 4 students per class ensures everyone receives individual guidance.

In an open studio class:

• Students bring their own project (or I help you start one).

• They may work in oil, acrylic, gouache, or watercolour.

• Beginners and more advanced students together.

• I move around the room giving individual instruction, practical tips and feedback on each student’s work.

• Occasional painting demonstrations, handling edges, glazing, colour mixing etc

 These classes are on a continuous cycle and can be joined at any point - these lessons have a less structured format and can be customised to suit each individual.

Materials

​

Materials will be supplied for the 10 hour introductory course.

For the more specialised private lessons and open classes I recommend you bring your own materials, though to start with I can supply you with paints, painting surface and brushes.
